My journey began in unexpected fashion

After a day of doing user research interviews for a client’s website, I found what I wanted to do, forever. Bridge the gap between brand goals and customer needs.

Since that day I have been a student of human behavior – rational and irrational – with a single goal.

How do I understand my client’s target customers, so I can create a compelling product or marketing experience for them?

Unconventional success

I was born with a desire for adventure

At 16, I took my first 10 day trek deep in the Himalayas.
I obtained a MS in Bioinformatics – computer-aided drug design
In 1999, I found my calling in the nascent discpline of UX

Early on, I found success in diverse situations

I was riding on top of the world and thought this success would last forever.

But failure was right around the corner

In 2015 when one my clients, Leapfrog, launched their product website, it failed to grow their business.

Despite being a usable, visually appealing UX, the numbers didn’t change.

Leapfrog’s website ultimately didn’t convince enough people that their research-backed products and apps were better than the iPad and it’s 99c apps.

I was about to become a parent and admired Leapfrog’s approach, so that cut deep (It still does to this day).

But I refused to take it lying down…

Putting my detective hat on...

I researched successful user experiences.

  • I used case studies to shortlist high-perfoming user experiences.
  • I peeled back their layers to understand what they were doing differently.
  • Via user research & testing sessions. I dug into users’ buying psychology, fears and motivations
  • I looked for hidden patterns methodically…

I was determined not to fail again…

Finally, I unearthed the secrets to winning in a crowded marketplace

Being usable or simple was no longer enough.

The experiences that were getting sustained, profitable growth were those that understood their target customers’ pain points and buying journeys.
And created a user experience that matched it closely.

The game had changed again. It was time for me to change.

I put this into practice in with clients in different situations (B2B vs B2C, Verticals, Customer segments) and saw results – real, bottom-line results.
